To Passion

Passion ringing though the twilight gloom
Strikes a chord that pulls the soul away.
Its trumpet saves us from our tedious doom
And rips our tired mind from where it lay.
Then on we strive to live our life anew--
To forge new paths across the sky's dull glow.
Little know we what it is we do.
We cry out to a tune we do not know.
Is it worth the pain it surely brings?
Is it worth the comfort that it steals?
Loudly Yes! the joyous music sings,
For the pain it brings is less than that it heals.
And so we welcome passion's lovely sign
And wait with eager heart its ringing chime.
